Personal Evangelism 101: A Brief Doctrine of Satan Pt. 2

James Stone resumes his Wednesday night series on Personal Evangelism by delving into Part 2 of Section Three, focusing on the Doctrine of Satan. The central theme emphasizes that Satan is a real and active force in the world, influencing people’s thoughts and actions, often leading them to doubt God’s goodness and truth. Throughout the discussion, Stone highlights the various methods Satan employs, including subtlety and deception, to blind individuals from the gospel. He urges listeners to recognize the spiritual battle at play when engaging with those who resist the message of Christ. By understanding the nature of Satan’s influence, believers can approach evangelism with compassion and discernment, aiming to shine the light of truth in a darkened world.

James Stone leads a compelling discussion on the doctrine of Satan, emphasizing its relevance in personal evangelism. He begins with practical scenarios, illustrating how to seamlessly engage individuals about their spiritual beliefs. By framing questions around the assurance of salvation, he demonstrates that evangelism can be straightforward and impactful. The episode serves as a guide for listeners to navigate similar conversations, highlighting the necessity of addressing eternal matters directly and with compassion.

Delving deeper, Stone explores the character and methods of Satan as depicted in Scripture. He articulates how Satan operates through subtlety and deception, casting doubt on God’s word and character. By referencing biblical narratives, he reveals how these tactics have been employed throughout history to lead people astray. This analysis not only enlightens listeners about the nature of spiritual warfare but also prepares them to recognize and counter these deceptions in their own lives and evangelistic efforts. Stone argues that understanding Satan’s schemes is critical for believers, as it equips them to stand firm against his influence.

The discussion culminates in a reflection on the cultural implications of acknowledging Satan’s reality. Stone raises concerns about the growing skepticism regarding the existence of Satan among Christians. He cites surveys indicating that many view Satan as a mere symbol rather than a living entity, which he argues undermines the seriousness of spiritual warfare. This call to awareness is paired with a reminder of God’s promise to empower believers in their mission. By the end of the episode, listeners are encouraged to be vigilant, compassionate, and proactive in their evangelistic efforts, armed with the knowledge of the enemy and the assurance of God’s presence.

James Stone:

What I'm going to do this evening, lest you think it takes 40 minutes to get to the question that I took 40 minutes to get to last week or two weeks ago, I'm going to get to the question with brother Tice with no explanation. We're going to do three scenarios, no explanations. And you'll see that it really is that quick. It doesn't take long at all.

And then that's all we're going to do with brother Tyce, and we'll get into our notebook. Okay? And by the way, we do have.

If you didn't bring the lessons from section three, I do have some more back there supplement as well, which, whoever's handing those out, could you bring a supplement to me? I left my. I don't think I brought one and I'm going to need it. Okay, thank you, sir. Just the supplement? Is that it? Just the supplement?

No, I don't need that. I need the supplement. Okay. Thank you. No, it's not. No, it's a separate page down. There you go. I'll get started here. Y'all find one for me.

We'll get started. All right. All right. So this is how I do it. And as I said before, I don't. I don't own the market on this. I don't have a corner on the market.

If I'm not the end, all begin and end all of this. This is the way I do it. And hopefully it'll help. I got it. Thank you, brother Clovis. I got it. Thank you. Okay. Hello. I'm looking for tice. Yes, it's him.

Oh, hey, Mister Rippy. Hey, my name is James Stone. I'm from Heritage Baptist Church, and we just want to welcome you to the neighborhood with a gift. Okay, well, thank you.

Yeah, you're welcome. You know, when we get these names for the new move ins, we're usually running about 30 days to 60 days behind.

You guys are probably already moved in by then. So is that about right? Yeah, it's about right. Okay. You've been here a month or two. A month or two. Well, let me ask you something, Mister Rippy.

In that month or two that you've been here, have you been able to find a good church for your family yet? You know, we've been busy a month or two. We haven't had time to look. Yeah, okay, well, I. Understandable. Do you guys. But you believe in God, right?

Yes, sir, I believe. Awesome. Well, let me ask you this. I'm sure that you'd agree with me that sitting in a building doesn't make a person a Christian, right? Correct. Yeah.

Well, putting church aside, let me just ask you this. What if something were to happen to you? I mean, if you died today, are you 100% sure that you go to heaven? Okay, that's scenario number one.

You see how quickly it doesn't take long at all? Scenario number two. I've already given him the bag. I'm asking him a question. The same question.

Now, in the couple of months that you've been here, have you been able to find a good church for your family yet? You know, we're visiting around. Okay, well, good. Well, that tells me that you haven't decided on one yet.

So what I want to do is I just want to extend an open invitation to Heritage Baptist church. I hope that you'll consider giving us a try. We've been in town about 25 years. We're a staple almost 25 years.

And we're, you know, we're not gigantic that you'll get lost in the crowd. We're small enough to be a family, but large enough where there's something for everyone. Okay, but I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you this.

I'm glad you're going to churches. Different churches. But I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you what?

If something were to happen to you if you died today, putting church aside, if something were to happen to you and you died, would you go to heaven? Are you 100% certain? Okay, scenario number two, it doesn't take long. Scenario number three.

Mister Rippy, in the two months that you've been here, have you been able to find a good church home for your family yet? I mean, we've been attending that church down the road. Okay, that's awesome. I'm glad that you're attending somewhere. Hey, you know what?

We're not out trying to steal folks from their church. I'm glad that you're attending. I mean that with all my heart. You need a good place for your family.

But I'd be remiss, and I'm sure you'd agree with me. I'd be remiss if I didn't at least ask you.

And, you know, sitting in a church, as you, I'm sure you'd agree, doesn't guarantee that a person's going to heaven, right? Yeah. So what if something were to happen to you? I mean, I'm glad you're going to church, but what if something happened if you died today?

Are you 100% certain that you go to heaven when you die? Okay, that's scenario number three. It does not take long, just a minute, to get to it. Scenario number four.

Mister Rippie, if the two months that you've been here and you've been living in town in Hazlett, have you been able to find a good church for your family yet? I'm an atheist. That is a lesson for the apologetics class. That's not for tonight, but thank you, brother. I appreciate that.

We can just set all this right here. Thank you. So I wanted to do that because I took such a long time a couple of weeks ago going over, explaining everything.

And while that is necessary, I did want you to understand and see that getting to that question is that quick. They already know you're there with the church, so no sense beating around the bush. You just get right to it. Amen. That's the way I do it.

So hopefully that'll help you. All right, if you would. I didn't get the. I didn't get the supplement. This is the simple plan of salvation.

If you can please find the supplement for me, that would. I'm sorry, I didn't get that for myself. I should have and I just didn't. The supplement. I have a supplement there. If you guys don't.

How many of you do not have? That says at the very top, supplement to section three. Who needs that? Everybody needs it. All right, we'll just. You know what? Get it later.

Get it later. Don't worry about it, guys. You can get it afterwards. It's a supplement. I'll remind you to pick it up on your way out. There'll be a few of these.

So when you come in, as you come in, go ahead and check that back table there and look for supplements to add to these. I'll try to add some stuff here and there. All right? Yeah, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it.

I'm just going to read one or two things off of it and you can get it later. I didn't plan on reading it all anyway. All right, we're on section three then. A brief view of the doctrine of Satan.

Now, again, the goal is not to try to convince you in this room of Satan's existence. We already believe it. We believe that Satan is real.

What my purpose is here today is to help you, to understand and convince you, and to show you, give you a worldly perspective. Satan, why people are responding the way they respond, why are they acting the way that they act? Brother, tice, Mister Ripe was pretty nice.

And the fact is most people are going to be nice. Most of them are going to be very cordial at the door. Very few people at the door are just plumb ugly, very few.

But you'll have varied answers, varied responses, and you'll have to come up with, you'll need to know.

But when you're talking to your neighbor, when you're talking to somebody at work, when you're talking to some friends or family, they may be very angry, venomous. Why? Why in the world? And that's what I want you to understand tonight. That's why we're going to look at just a brief view of the doctrine of Satan.

This is the angelology which includes the doctrine of Satan. There is scarcely a culture. I'll stick with my outline tonight. I'm going to make sure we get through this.

There's scarcely a culture, a tribe or society to be found in the world which does not have some concept or fear of an invisible evil power. This has been attested to by christian missionaries and secular anthropologists alike.

Witch doctors, shrunken heads, voodoo dolls and totem poles all give dramatic evidence of this universal fear. It's everywhere.

Just as we can say the same thing about God, we say, just as we can say that about God, we also say that about Satan, about the devil, about an evil influence, an evil power.

Now what I want to do is if you actually have that, you don't have to go get it, but I'm just going to read just a couple of things here off of this supplement. But it'd be worth you picking up before you leave the present position of Satan. And at the very bottom, I have a couple of things here.

First of all, it is a position of exaltation and honor. By the way, these are excerpts from christian theology angelology by eh. Bancroft. It is a position of exaltation and honor.

According to Jude six nine, the position of Satan is so exalted that even Michael the archangel will not bring any railing judgment against him. Secondly, it is a position of rulership and authority. I think we downplay Satan. We don't give him near enough credit.

It is a position of rulership and authority. He is called the prince of the power of the air.

Satan is given this title and is accredited with possessing a kingdom indicating his authority and power in relation to the heavenly realms. And I have several verses for you to look at in connection with that.

He is not only called the prince of the power of the air, he is called the prince of this world, and as such, is the head of the present godless world order and system. And then finally, he is called the God of this age. And by this title, he is presented as the self constituted object of world worship.

So you think he doesn't play a small part? He is the little God of this world.

And so much of what we do, even as christians, but for sure what the majority of the lost world does, I would say 100% of what the lost world does, is dictated and orchestrated and choreographed by Satan. And much of what christians do is influenced by Satan. We think just because we're saved, we're safe.

If we're not in brethren, if we're not in Christ every day, if we're not walking and living in the word abiding in the word, and his word abiding in, we have opened ourselves up to his influence. No doubt about it.

God has given us an umbrella of protection, an umbrella of blessing, and we choose to go out from under that umbrella of blessing and umbrella of protection and open ourselves up to the influence of Satan. All right, now, I do want you. I saw some folks just walk in.

Zach, if you guys don't have section three, I've got section three on the table there, and I am going. I'm trying my. You got it. Great. I am trying my best to go right over this, so I at least want you to have that much in your hand.

All right, so let's look at this, then. Number one, the existence of Satan. First of all, his existence is doubted by the world. His existence is doubted by the world.

And as shown by the typical cartoon concept, most of the world today pictures the devil as a medieval and mythical two horn, fork tail, impish creature dressed in red flannel underwear busily pitching coal into the furnace of hell. It's a caricature. It's laughable. It's laughable. And comedians, I'm telling all myself here, but as a kid, I watched Flip Wilson.

Y'all remember Flip Wilson show? He. He popularized that. The devil made me do it, and everybody laughed. But how true is it? It's absolutely true. The devil did make us do it.

Or at least he influenced us to do it. No one makes us do anything we choose, but we have downplayed the Underwood ham devil. That's what's in the mind of most people.

I didn't come up with this quote. I don't know who said it, or I would have given credit, but it said, it is but a short step from mockery of Satan to mockery of the savior.

And I'll say this in passing real quick, I don't want to make anybody mad, but I am going to say it. And no matter. There are no little ones in here, right?

Okay, folks, if we lie about Saint Nick, what's to make our kids think we're not lying about Jesus and the devil? I just believe in telling them the truth. My kids have never sat on Santa's lap, never, because we tell them the truth.

And I just think, I don't want them to think I'm lying about Jesus once they find out I've lied about that other thing. So look at number two. So the existence of Satan, it's doubted by the word.

His existence is doubted by the world, as shown by the denial from liberal and conservative pulpits alike. Conservative pulpits. Look at this survey that I got from the Barna group.

A new nationwide survey of adults spiritual beliefs conducted by the Barna group suggests that Americans who consider themselves to be Christian have a diverse set of beliefs. And that's true. I mean, Christian is a wide, it's a huge, the parameters are huge. And what falls under Christian? All kinds of stuff.

And so our beliefs are varied, and so we have a diverse set of beliefs. But many of those beliefs are contradictory or at least inconsistent. Four out of ten christians look at this now. I don't know.

You know, you can give some credence to Barna's surveys. These are legitimate surveys. The Barna group, they've been around doing this for years.

Four out of ten christians, 40%, strongly agreed that Satan is not a living being, but a symbol of evil. He's not real. He's just an influence, just a symbol of evil.

An additional two out of ten christians, 19%, said they agree somewhat with that perspective. A minority of christians indicated that they believe Satan is real by disagreeing with that, with the statement.

And then one quarter, 26%, disagreed strongly, and about one 10th disagreed somewhat. The remaining 8% weren't sure what they believe about the existence of Satan. That was just a few short years ago.

And, but I tell you what, I think that a lot of those christians who had doubts, I think they're, as they see Satan, ramping up his efforts, intensifying his efforts. I think Satan knows his time is short, and I believe that he is intensifying his efforts all over the world, not just in America.

But, boy, we are seeing it. He is throwing it in our face. And you, as a child of God, your voice is stifled. You just have no voice anymore. We have to be collective.

If we're going to get heard. But God didn't call us here to save America, although I'm an american and I wish we could save it, that's not what he called us here for.

He called us here to win people to Jesus Christ and he'll do the saving. And so that's what we have to do. No matter how evil it gets, no matter how dark the time, we just need to be the light that shines in the darkness.

The darker the night, the brighter the light. Amen. And we're the candle. We're the light of the world.

While we as Bible believing christians, we don't doubt the existence of Satan, we must allow these facts that I just read to you, we must allow these facts regarding society's view of the devil to help give us a proper perspective when dealing with the lost. It's easy, I'm telling you.

If we don't have the proper attitude and the proper perspective, the proper mental attitude, when we go out and, or when we even talk to someone, many times you're not even prepared. Someone just comes up to you and the Holy Spirit says, talk to them or you hand them and people just lash out at you.

And sometimes you're not even prepared to deal with that. And that's why it's important that we understand. Where's that coming from? I can tell you where it's coming from. It's coming from Satan.

It is absolutely, positively coming from Satan. Because how many of you would say amen to this fact?

If they only knew Jesus, if they only knew him, they wouldn't try to run from him, they wouldn't try to tear him down, they wouldn't try to dismiss him. If they only knew him, if he only knew how much God loves them. That's why we know that this is all of Satan.

Second Corinthians four three four says, if our gospel be hidden, it is hid to them that are lost, in whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. I'm not going to spend a lot of time here, but do you remember, you know, the trichotomy of man, of saved man, is spirit, soul and body.

We have the spirit and our mind can draw from the spirit the things that the spirit of God is giving to us through the spirit of God. Lost man doesn't have that. He doesn't have that. He doesn't have things from the spirit of God to draw from his spirit is dead within him.

He doesn't have that communication to God. What he's got is communication from Satan. And he's drawing on that. That's why he says the devil has blinded his mind.

He doesn't have a spirit like we do. He doesn't have that born again spirit, that revived spirit, that regenerated spirit, only we do. And so we have to understand that.

We have to put that, take that into perspective when we're dealing with people who are ugly and mean and they can be and it's not. And sometimes you just want to lash out back. I've done that and I've walked away, say, well, let him go. He just, that's where he wants to go.

Let him go then. If that's the way he's attitude he's going to have, I can have it, too. I've done that. It's stupid, but I've done it. I'm sorry.

Shouldn't use that word. It's not a good thing. It's ugly. I don't have to be as ugly as they are. And we shouldn't be, right, we shouldn't be, but it's easy.

But if we can just take this and allow it to influence us as we go out and realize when people are lashing out, it's Satan. It's Satan. Because if they knew God, they wouldn't do that. All right. Letter B. His existence is declared by the Bible.

His existence is declared by the Bible. The devil is mentioned in seven Old Testament books. Genesis one chronicles job twelve times. In job, psalms, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Zechariah.

And then he's found in 19 New Testament books and is referred to by every New Testament writer. And I have the books there for you. He's mentioned by the Lord Jesus Christ 15 times. Okay, so his existence is declared by the Bible. He's real.

And there's going to be a lot of people tell you he's not real. It's just an influence. And Jehovah's witnesses do not believe Satan is real. And of course, you telling them that he's in the Bible, it doesn't.

Your words are lost. You're just pearls before swine. But it's there. It's there. All right. Number two, the methods of Satan. First of all, he is subtle. S u b t l e.

He is subtle. Genesis, chapter three, verse one. Now, the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.

And two corinthians eleven says, and no marvel for Satan. Himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be, according to their work, transformed as ministers of righteousness. Now, I'm saying this, and this isn't lost on you, me saying that Satan's not going to come to us.

He's not going to show himself as some evil, impish creature. He's not going to do that. He's not going to come to you, because obviously, as christians, we'll run away from that.

We won't have anything to do with it. No. He comes to us as Disneyland characters, Disney movies. You can go ahead and say amen right there. It's okay.

Because I'm telling you, he uses the media. He uses. And some people are just locked on the news. And I'm telling you that that is so liberally biased.

And if you just watch news night after night after night, you're being fed garbage that the devil is feeding you. I say you. I'm talking about. You know what I'm saying? Just. He's gonna. He's going to not even show up.

He's just going to work as a minister of light, minister of righteousness. So he beguiled Eve through a serpent who didn't crawl on its belly. At first, I kind of wondered what kind of animal it looked like.

Stood upright, maybe. Well, here's one thing. It spoke, and it didn't freak her out. I mean, if an animal spoke to you today, wouldn't you run?

I don't pretend to understand that she communicated with an animal somehow. And he beguiled Eve through a serpent. He used something harmless, something that she looked at as familiar and harmless.

When he went to accuse job, he waited until the sons of God appeared before God, and he came among them. He sowed tares among the wheats under the COVID of darkness, under the COVID of night.

And when he betrayed Christ in the garden, he used a friend, Judas. This is how Satan works. Through subtlety. Through subtlety. That's why we have to be circumspect. Be sober, be vigilant.

Because your adversary, the devil, walketh about seeking whom he may devour. He's subtle, number one. Under that, he cast doubt on God's word. Now, you knew that was coming. That's what he does. He casts doubt on God's word.

Genesis three, one says, and he said unto the woman, yea, hath God said.

Hath God said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden, one of the most widely used arguments when we're trying to witness to people is, oh, the Bible is just written by men. Or that's your interpretation. That's just your interpretation. People want to throw doubt on God's word. They doubt God's word. That's Satan working.

That's one of his main tools, is casting doubt. He's been doing it since the garden of Eden, and it worked. What makes us think he's going to quit if it works? You and I, we believe in that.

Hey, if something's working, don't talk. Right. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And Satan's been using it ever since. Number two, cast doubt. He cast doubt on God's character and his goodness.

Chapter three, verse four and five.

The serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die, for God doth know that in the day that ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good as evil. He hadn't stopped doing that either. People always want to cast doubt on God's character. If God's such.

If he's such a good and loving and kind God, how can all of this. What are they doing? They're casting doubt on God's character. They're attacking God's character.

If he's so good, if he's so loving, if he's so kind, where's that coming from? That's coming from Satan. That's not just. That's not just somebody coming, saying that from a broken heart.

I'm not saying there's not a broken heart involved, but I'm saying that broken heart will break down your defenses. It'll break down your resistance. And many times with a broken heart, we don't think straight. We're vulnerable, and we let Satan in.

Well, if God was so good, if God was so loving, if God is so kind, does that sound like a good Christian who's walking in the will of God? No, it does sound like someone who's lost. And we'll hear that a lot. I'll promise you, you'll hear that a lot.

Well, if God's so loving, and that's another one, by the way, that's another subject for our, for our apologetics class. Wouldn't you like to be able to answer that? It's a hard one to answer, isn't it? It's hard.

Well, if God's so loving, why do you allow all this to happen over in Tennessee and North Carolina? Man, I don't have an answer for that. Not one that'll satisfy anyone. I can give you a biblical answer, but anyway, that's for another class.

So God's doubt, or he casts doubt on God's character and his goodness. And then letter B. He schemes. He schemes. He schemes.

All right, now, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but once again, what I'm trying to get you to do is understand how this affects the lost person when you're trying to give them the gospel. Listen, Satan doesn't want them saved. You're saved. He doesn't want you leading others to Christ, and so he's going to be working in them.

And that's what you have to understand, where they're coming from, when they lash out or when they're resisting. This is Satan working. He schemes. Don't forget that. He's going to be working against you.

Ephesians 611 says, put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Trickery. Trickery. Against the trickery. He's going to try to trick you up. And then let her see. He plans. He plans. Two Corinthians 211.

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us, for we are not ignorant of his devices. We are not ignorant of his devices. I do love to do word studies.

And as I looked up that word devices, it brought into it implied we're not ignorant of his mind, of his thoughts, of his purpose. He plans. He thinks things through. And then letter D, by the way, most of us, I wish that we could.

I wish we could claim that and say it as often and with as much assurance as Paul said it. We are not ignorant of his devices. I'm afraid I'm way too ignorant of his devices at times. Way too ignorant.

I don't give him near enough credit or enough blame. I guess I should say whatever. And then letter D. He deceives. He deceives. Revelation twelve nine.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpenthenne called the devil. And Satan. Watch this. Which deceiveth the whole world.

You know, the Lord didn't just put that in there to fulfill her, which deceiveth the whole world. He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. You know, only when watching a magic show do I enjoy being deceived.

Lie to me all you want to when you're doing a magic show, but none of us enjoy being lied to otherwise. And Satan is the father of lies. Everything that he says is a lie. Everything. There's no truth in him, that's our enemy.

That's the one we go to battle with every day. And anytime that we're trying to win someone to the Lord, anytime we're trying to share the gospel with someone, he is fighting against us.

He deceives. He's a master of deception.

And what is painfully obvious to us when we are trying to witness, when you're trying to witness, you're going to see things and you're going to go, man, that's of the devil. These are what's painfully obvious to us is tactics of the devil and the lives of the lost. It's completely lost on them.

And you can't really just come out and say, well, you know, you're just being influenced by Satan. You can't say that. You can't say that when you're witnessing to him, but you just have to know it.

You have to understand that what you're up against, that's why we have to be filled with the spirit.

I'm so glad I'm going to talk about this at the end, but I'm so glad that I know Jesus said, and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the earth. And that promise was attached to our going. He said, go and lo, I'll be with you. They're so unbelievably blind.

I mean, you think about what's going on today. Homosexuality. I mean, it's demonic anyway. It is purely demonic. Homosexuality is demonic. It is. It is. The mind is confused.

The word of God tells us that they're confused in their mind. But I'm telling you, Satan has taken that thing to a whole new level here in America.

And if we thought homosexuality in and of itself was demonic, what do we think about gender dysphoria? I mean, don't you just sit back sometimes and say, how, how can they even think that? And I'm convinced.

I'm convinced that these people, many people, I watched some YouTube videos and just, I don't even know why. Sometimes I look at it, I'm like, do they really believe that? And I'm convinced they do believe that.

There are some people that actually do believe that trans women, which are really men, can menstruate and get pregnant. They believe that that is satanic to the nth degree. I mean, he's truly, he has truly messed up their mind. So they are beyond deceived.

I looked up the word deceiveth right there. Revelation twelve nine, the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil and satan, which deceiveth the whole world.

The word deceiveth, it's used 39 times in the Bible, in the New Testament. 39 times. But it's. It's not translated. Deceit every time. And it would be worth a study for you. It's interesting.

It's also used the word err, gone astray, deceived and out of the way. Those words are translated from the one word that we also get the word deceived from.

And it means to cause, to go astray, to cause, to wonder, to be out of the way. And then it says, from safety, from truth, from virtue. It means to seduce. To seduce. And he's a master at it.

All right, number two, regarding his end, regarding his end, he is a deceiver. He deceives regarding his existence.

And then number two, regarding his end, revelation, chapter 20, verse ten, the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are and shall be tormented day and night, forever and ever. Oh, come on. That was worth a big amen right there. I can't wait, brother. I mean, you know, to watch our arch enemy, to watch our.

The one who's been casting doubt about God in our ears and deceiving the whole world and the one who's been the accuser of the brethren for centuries, for millennial, for millennium, and. And then he's finally going to get his. You know, we cheer. We watch a movie and we cheer when the obvious bad guy finally gets it.

I mean, have you ever watched the movie? And you say, man, I can't wait till he gets his, because you know it's coming, right? You know it's coming.

You say, man, I'll be so glad when he gets his brother. I don't understand everything that's involved. When the Lord says he's going to, Satan will land at our feet shortly.

I'm sure it has to do with authority. Feet, authority, Satan. I'm sure it does, but I like to picture it differently. That's just me. Give me this little bit of pleasure.

I like to see the Lord putting Satan at my feet and saying, go ahead, James, have at it. I can't wait. I got loved ones that are in hell that he has deceived.

I've got brothers and sisters in Christ who are not fit for ministry because he has deceived them or they gave in. He's tricked them. I've got brothers and sisters in Christ who I just want to give the devil a stomp, but he doesn't want people to believe that.

What he wants to do, and I don't know if you've ever been there. I've been there many times where I've heard people say, well, I'll just reign in hell with the devil. We'll just have a party with all my friends.

You've heard that. And I don't know if they truly believe that, but they said it with conviction and I've heard it a lot.

Well, when I go, I'll just go to hell with the devil. We'll have us a good time, you know, truly get them one on one, maybe.

I don't know if they truly believe that or not, but there are a lot of people do believe that the devil is going to reign in hell and all of his followers will reign and party with him. As I said, he's a personification of deception. It's not going to happen.

He is going to spend eternity in a lake of fire along with the false prophet and the beast, the unholy Trinity. All right, number three, the makeup of Satan. The makeup of Satan. So one final thought on this subject.

Consider how to answer those who suggest the devil is not real, but only an impersonal influence that is Jehovah's Witness.

You will if you decide some of you are already doing it, many of you are already doing it, and many of you have already gone out and you've witnessed to people, and you may have, let me just show by a show of hands, how many of you have ever gone head to head with the Jehovah Witness regarding the gospel you've tried to witness? And lots. Lots. I'd whole lot rather witness to a mormonization. Whole lot rather. Because most Mormons have no clue what they believe.

I mean, they've got the Bible. They don't give it much credence. Everything supersedes the Bible.

But they do have the Holy Bible, the book of Mormon, the doctrine of covenants, the pearl of great price. They can't keep up with it. They have no clue what they believe. I mean, that's even true in Utah.

My wife, we spent a month in Utah and we went door knocking almost every day. And most of them, they'll come to the door with a beer in their hand or something, they'll say, yeah, well, I'm a Jack Mormon.

You know what that means? Same as us saying, well, I'm a backslidden Baptist. Same thing, I'm a Jack Mormon. They have no clue what they believe.

There's a few that do, but a Jehovah's Witness, that's a whole different story. They are indoctrinated. If they say they're a Jehovah's Witness. Nobody just says that just to line up with the denomination.

If they say they're a Jehovah's Witness, I'll guarantee you they know what they believe and they're hard to witness to. But greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Truth will always over. We just have to be persistent.

Persistent and just stick with the truth and know the truth because they're going to tell you, Jesus, never, look, how is Jesus going to pray to himself? He never claimed to be God. There is no such thing as. Do you know where to go in the Bible to refute that?

Better yet, can you take them in their Bible? Because what they have is a perverted King James version. They have a twisted King James version that they have perverted. They don't have any.

They don't have any historical document. And what's the word I'm looking for? Not historical. What's it the King James is written from and derived from manuscripts. Historical manuscripts.

They have none. They have none for the new. It's called the. Is it the New World translation? That's what theirs is called. Yeah, the New World translation. They have.

It's the King James twisted and left stuff out. That's it. They have no historical manuscripts that they have translated that from. So anyway, so the Jehovah's Witness is going to be.

They're going to be one of those who say that Satan is not real. He's just an impersonal influence.

So the Bible, though, the Bible attributes to him, to Satan, these characteristics that we as human beings also share. Letter A, intellectual faculties. The mind. The mind.

Ezekiel 28, verse twelve says, son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus and say unto him, thus saith the Lord God. By the way, God is speaking to a king here. But this prophecy reaches beyond the king of Tyrus and is speaking directly to Satan.

He says, thus saith the Lord God, thou sealest up the sum full of wisdom, perfect in beauty. And that's not a reach. All you have to do is go to Ezekiel 28 and look at it. And it's obvious that he's talking to. To Satan.

So the Bible attributes the mind to Satan. Letter B, volitional or decision making faculties. The will. The will. Isaiah, chapter 14.

Once again, for thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north. I will ascendental above the heights of the clouds.

I will be like the most high. He makes decisions. He has decision making faculties. And then letter c. Affections or feelings. Emotion. He has emotions. He has affections or feelings.

One Peter five eight. Be sober, be vigilant. Because your adversary, your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about seeking human, may devour.

An adversary is somebody who doesn't like you, constantly angry at you, wants to see you destroyed. That's an emotional state of mind. Revelation, chapter twelve, verse twelve. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens and ye that dwell in them.

Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, and of the seal and of the sea. I'm sorry, for the devil is come down unto you having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

So this is just a brief and superficial study of Satan. We didn't do a lot, but just a brief and superficial study of Satan is enough for us to realize the magnitude of his wickedness.

I didn't even do it justice. I knew our time is limited. But this isn't to be a complete study on Satan, just enough to get us to understand that he is wholly corrupt and evil.

He is completely devoid of good.

And this is why, rather than lash out at people who are venomous toward the gospel in Jesus Christ and who want to take it out on us as soul winners, we should be heartbroken at the depth of their blindness and angry at the scope of Satan's reach. So while we are undeniably battling Satan within his own domain and on his own battleground, we have the promise of God from Matthew 28.

And I already said it, so I got a little bit ahead of myself.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations in regards to soul winning, in regards to witnessing, in regards to trying to win our loved ones to Christ, Jesus said, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. He said, all power is mine. I'm giving it to you. Go ye, therefore.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the earth, end of the world.

Greater is he that is in you first, John four four, than he that is in the world. Now, if we stop and commiserate about Satan for long, we'll get scared and we'll never witness to anybody.

And I think that more people are going to hell because christians fear, man, what they going to think? How they going to please, I want to reiterate this fact.

When you go out and knock doors, if you come out with this, if you do these new move in bags, well, I've only had one person ever refuse it. But if you go out, even if you don't do new moving bags, whatever you do, I promise you, anybody in here who's done this can say amen to this too.

I know you can. 98, 99% of the people are going to be kind. They are. They're just kind.

Even if they don't want anything to do with it, they'll say, ah, no thank you, or they may not be super kind, they just may not be ugly and just open the door. Oh, church, close the door. I can handle that. Jesus died on the cross for me. I can, I can take a shut door in my face. I think I can handle that.

But when we go out, I understand and I do, I get it. It's scary. It's scary for some people to go to a door and they have no idea who's behind it.

They have no idea what's going to show up behind that door. I understand that. I do. I promise I do. And this I understand too. Not everybody can go. Not everybody can go out and knocking doors. I understand that.

And for those of you who can't go pray, please pray. Pray, pray. We need prayer. We need prayer. And so anyway, as I said, this wasn't designed to be a class on.

By the way, let me say one more time, if we were in a classroom, in a smaller setting, questions would have been absolutely welcome. It's not conducive in this setting, but in the class we'll definitely take questions and discussions. It'll be awesome.

But this wasn't designed to give you a full doctrine of Satan and a full view of the doctrine saying, this is to give you an overview of the doctrine of Satan, but get us to understand where they are coming from when they lash out, when they won't accept Christ. Even when people are sitting in church and the preacher's preaching and he preaches simplicity of Jesus Christ and you're like, why won't they move?

They're grabbing. Now you know why? It's Satan. It is Satan working in their heart and in their mind. He's blinding their minds. Amen. All right, that's it for tonight.

I'd like to have a, let's go ahead and have an invitation. All right. Yeah, let's have an invitation.

I know that when we're doing this in a class session, it is instructional and invitations won't be there unless we feel the Holy Spirit saying, let's pray. But tonight in a church setting, let's do it. Let's all stand together and we'll have a verse of invitation. Look at that. 753. Good night.

I should get a raise.
